“Amma is a person we can always depend on”, Padma Shri Mohanlal Speaks Out

Like many distinguished personalities in the fields of art and culture, the legendary icon of Indian Cinema, Padma Sri Mohanlal too spoke out in support of Mata Amritanandamayi Devi. Shri Mohanlal was elected the most popular Keralite in a poll conducted on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Kerala’s formation. In 2001, the Government of India honoured him with the Padma Shri, India’s fourth highest civilian honour, for his contributions to Indian cinema.

Below are excerpts from the interview with Shri Mohanlal.

“The allegations against Amma, her Ashram and the people there does not bring about any change to my 40 years of relationship and love for them. The same is the case with that of devotees and followers of Amma. That is the truth. I dont believe any devotee will lose or reduce their devotion to Amma because of this. Similar cases have come across the lives of Mahatmas before too. Some specific group of people always look forward to or enjoy the fall of such people and organisations  The time will come when they realize their mistakes. We can wait for that time. Let all these allegations go away like the dark clouds in the sky. These allegations does not touch Amma; that is what I want to say as devotee of 40 years. To the question asked my the media about the best personality in last fifty years of my life I gave my answer as Amma. During these years my family and I had many beautiful experiences with Amma. I dont have any difficulty in accepting Amma’s love and care. My relationship to Amma is like a mother and her child. Amma is a person, we can always depends on; to recognize that is the best part of it and it is sad to note that many are not recognising it. I appreciate Amma’s ability to console the crying hearts to come out of misery more than the organisation’s services to the society. There are lot of forces always around to portray the good deeds and actions done by good organisations in a negative way. This is an universal law. But I strongly believe these insults will never have any impact on Amma and the Ashram.”
